Important Hickory Fest Update

February 7, 2021

Dear friends and festival goers, we want to let you know that we will no longer be producing Hickory Fest Music in the Canyon at Stony Fork Creek Campground. We have had a good long run there over nearly 20 years, and it is just time to move on. But to be clear, we will continue to produce Hickory Fest Music in the Canyon at a new location. Our friends at the campground are having another festival in early September and we feel that it is not in our best interest to compete for attendees and sponsors at the same venue, so close together, especially during these uncertain times.

Since Little Hickory Productions, Inc., became a non-profit corporation a few years ago, our goal has been to work more closely with the music students at both the Wellsboro Area School District and Mansfield University, where we have established music scholarships in Sue Cunningham’s name. The date of the third weekend of August was not ideal, in that it conflicted with Mansfield University’s marching band camp and with the middle and high schoolers summer break. We are looking at all of this as an opportunity to grow and by changing the venue and the date for Hickory Fest Music in the Canyon, we feel we can enhance the schools’ attendance, participation and involvement. This is very important to us.

Moving forward, we plan to continue to further expand our relationship with the Tioga County Relay for Life, which we have donated over $60,000 to date. We are also looking forward to beginning new partnerships with other Wellsboro area nonprofits to expand our involvement in this beautiful community.

Given the continued uncertainty of the pandemic moving into 2021, we have decided that rather than hold an event that would be limited due to protocols, and the hesitancy to travel of our headliner bands, we will be focusing on a new date at a new location for Hickory Fest Music in the Canyon in 2022. We will continue to be open to the possibility of some smaller events/concerts in 2021, pandemic permitting. We appreciate all of the 2020 ticket holders who held their tickets over for 2021, and we will be reaching out over the next couple of weeks to begin the process of issuing refunds.

Even though we were unable to hold the 2020 festival, we are proud of the fact that we still fully funded all of our Scholarships and just donated over $7,000 to Relay for Life. One of the ways we are currently raising funds is through the sale of the new Sue Cunningham tribute Album, Ode to an Angel and accompanying color Songbook. If you would like your own copy and help us to continue to honor Sue Cunningham’s legacy, please visit www.LittleHickory.org.  Because after all this is why we do what we do!

Thank you,

Frank Serio and everyone at Little Hickory Productions, Inc.
